Inclusive, mainstream coliving for adults of all abilities.
A shared inclusive home where adults with and without disabilities live as peers, build friendships, and experience independent living within a supportive community.
What is Cohome?
Cohome is a nonprofit pioneering a unique, mainstream coliving model where adults of all abilities share everyday life in a supportive, community-oriented home. Residents live independently, participate in household life, and build authentic friendships, without the restrictions of traditional programs or facilities.
Our model blends the best of both worlds: The independence of mainstream living with the belonging of a shared home.
For decades, adults with disabilities have had limited choices: highly structured programs on one end, or the isolation of living completely alone on the other. Cohome was created to challenge that system: to confront the assumptions and legal barriers that have limited where people with disabilities can live, and to demonstrate that inclusive, mainstream coliving truly works. Adults with and without disabilities do want to live together, and each gains something they could never experience alone.
What began as one family’s effort to create an inclusive home for their son and brother has grown into a model showing what true community integration can look like: not segregated, not institutional, but fully woven into everyday life.
Who Thrives Here
Cohome is designed for adults who want the freedom and independence of everyday living, while also enjoying the connection and sense of belonging that come from living with peers. It’s a home for people who value community without sacrificing autonomy.
Residents who thrive here are people who want:
Independence without living alone
Community without a restrictive setting
Friendships with peers
A home environment that feels natural, not institutional
Support Community, Belonging, and Home
Cohome exists to challenge a system that has offered too few options for adults with disabilities. Your generosity helps advance inclusive housing solutions and strengthens a model that communities everywhere can learn from.

Jeremy
Jeremy was Cohome’s very first resident, and his experience continues to shape our understanding of what inclusive, mainstream coliving makes possible.
“Anything is possible. Living here has made me feel more important. It is better than living with my mom, and I love living here.”
Cheri
Cheri is a dedicated parent-advocate, and she has watched her son Simon grow in confidence and connection since moving into Cohome.
“Being here gives him the opportunity to take the lead himself and not be looking to me to be that lead all the time, which is what any young adult is going to learn when they go off to college or leave their parents home.”
Jane
Jane is a longtime Cohome Fellow whose experience living alongside residents has deepened her commitment to inclusion and advocacy.
“I'm really grateful for the time I spend with my housemates, even seeing them in the kitchen in the morning—it always lowers my blood pressure and fills my cup. I just love Cohome.”
